A bit about me

I have been coaching tennis now for over 27 years with students of all ages and abilities from rank beginners to nationally ranked and world ranked players.

I am the founder and former owner of Pro-Am Tennis - a tennis coaching business which ran school tennis programs. I have been the Head Tennis Coach of Marist College Ashgrove for 15 years (leading Marist to 8 straight AIC aggregate championship wins), I was also Director of Tennis at the Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson managing over 20 coaches and all programs run at the centre. I also founded and owned World Kindy Tennis which ran tennis lessons at 35 different child care centres across Brisbane for kindy aged kids.

I now specialise in privately coaching students of any ability, who are serious about taking their tennis to the next level. I love private lesson coaching as it here where we see true results, faster than any other way of coaching such as groups and squads.

Starting out & more history on me with tennis

I started learning tennis at the late age of 11 years old but once started I couldn’t get enough of it!

I trained usually twice a week in groups at school and continued this in High School when attending Ipswich Grammar School for grades 8 & 9. I then was accepted into the Bank of Queensland School Squad at Coops Racquet Sports Brisbane and changed school to Albany Creek High School to attend this squad which required us to train 1.5hrs each morning before school, then they would drive us to the school and pick us up after school to train another 1.5hrs again each afternoon, 5 days a week. This is also where Pat Rafter attend school and trained as well.

I reached a ranking of 6th in Queensland and top 25 in Australia while playing as a junior.

After finishing grade 12 I then trained full-time (6 - 8 hour days) in the National Australia Bank squad at Coops with the likes again of Pat Rafter, Scott Draper, Peter Tramacchi, Chris Mahony, Aarthi Venkatesan and Shane Barr.

I played on the satellite and challenger circuit throughout Australia and also played internationally in France, Germany, Austria and Asia.

I started coaching with Keith Dudgeons Sports at 18 years of age to help fund my tennis training. I later moved to Melbourne for 18 months coaching at small clubs in Melbourne, where I received my Level 1 coaching certificate for TCAV. I then decided on a change and travelled to America in 1999 for 7 months coaching as second in charge of tennis at a children’s summer camp in Maine and a tennis centre in Connecticut. Moving to Poland in 2000 (after another short stint of playing tournaments in France again) for two years coaching at the Polish Academy of Tennis. I then came back to Australia in September 2002 after marrying my Polish wife. I started coaching for the Gap Health & Racquet Club and the Hyatt Regency Coolum for 18 months before starting Pro-Am Tennis in 2004. I had this business for 15 years and have since sold it to concentrate on private tennis lessons only.

During this 15 years I also founded World Kindy Tennis, which operated in over 35 childcare centres across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. I was selected as Director of Tennis at the 23 court, $82 million facility of the Qld Tennis Centre in Tennyson for a period of 18 months from January 2015. I had appointed another coach to run Pro-Am Tennis while I was at the Qld Tennis Centre. However after my third child was born in November 2015 I decided to get my work/life balance restored and take back control of Pro-Am Tennis in mid 2016.

I am not the cheapest coach out there but I am one of the best and I believe you get what you pay for and my results and experience speak for themselves. I only take on a select number of lessons per week as I also like to spend time with my own three young children and I believe in giving quality tennis lessons as I also believe that too many lessons done by a coach on a daily basis gives way to lower quality lessons.
